Our Home!

I know I am fairly lousy at completing my blog especially compared to my husband. I have to admit I do not have the talent he has at expressing himself in words. However, I love to share pictures. When we bought our home it required very little as far as "work" to be done to make functional but, it did need some work to make it ours. As most of you know, one of my passions is fiddling around the house and making it both inviting to others and comfortable for us. Here is what I have accomplished so far...

I painted the entire living area a light taupe. The original color was a mix of yellows.

This is our "eat in" kitchen.

This is our living room which again I painted the light taupe. We also purchased a leather couch for this home and it is so comfy!!

I painted the front door Elizabeth Arden red and we sold our large t.v. and entertainment center to take advantage of the cut outs constructed by the prior homeowner.

Our new refrigerator. We are working to replace all of the appliances with the stainless steel (look). We decided to keep the original refrigerator, which was over sized, and put it in Brian's shop. It has been a great way to bulk up on items.

We did very little to the bathroom. Please note, the incredible tiled counter tops. Both Brian and Bear took a day and placed tile on both the kitchen and the bathroom counter tops and it looks awesome. Good job boys!!!

I am going for a tropical theme in our bedroom. I think it is very calming and inviting. I completely stripped the furniture back to the bare wood, reupholstered my vanity bench and painted the walls. The print on the wall is my splurge for this room or should I say the frame for the print was the splurge. The print cost me $19.99 and the frame cost me over $100!!

(The insanely priced frame with the cheap print)
This is my latest handiwork. Mom helped me find the quilt and I chose the colors around it. In addition to redoing the rooms, Brian and I hung the Plantation blinds in each of the bedrooms. The prior homeowner did install Plantation blinds in the rest of the home however, they had hideous vertical blinds that were falling apart and filthy in the bedrooms. In addition, I replaced all of the dated light fixtures in the bedrooms and hallway. While I was at it, I replaced both the front and back house lights. What a difference a new light fixture can make!
Last but not least, here is Brian in his office. I told him if he picked the color I would paint it for him. Little did I know he would go for red. If you have ever painted a room red, you will feel my pain. This room ate up 3 coats of paint before I ran out and still could use more coats to even it out. After my all day slaving away painting this office, my wonderful husband comes in and says "I don't think I like this, it looks pink to me". You know when you get to a place of not knowing if you want to cry or hit something? I think at that very moment I was leaning towards hitting something. :-)
